MEXICO UPDATE
In May and June of 2001 PAWHA president Patricia Gilmore, C.M.Ht. will be in
Mexico City and Cuernavaca to better her language skills and to meet with the
founders of the Instituto médico Tao. Although the center's location is
new the work of the Oriental Medicine doctors that founded the institute is
not. These dedicated individuals have been bringing their knowledge into
the field. They have taken the money from their own private practice in
Mexico City and have donated time, energy and materials training the poor in
rural areas on the use of Oriental Medical techniques. Along with hands-on
training they distribute two publications - one on shiatsu and the other on
acupuncture. In addition, they publish a magazine on Japanese cultural
exchange which includes articles on complementary medicine.
Patricia will be meeting with them to view the clinic and hopefully visit the
outlying areas. Both TAO and PAWHA have been communicating
about possibly collaborating on future projects.
Stay tuned for future updates.
